Record or change details of a heavy vehicle (HGV and PSV) with DVSA

29 Jan 2020

After you or the dealer register your vehicle (HGV/PSV) with DVLA, you must record the vehicle’s details with DVSA.  This is so you get the right documents, the vehicle can be identified on the record system and you can book an annual test (MoT) for the vehicle.

There is no fee to record the vehicle details with DVSA.

Using the right form is important.  Depending on whether the vehicle was approved under the:

  • European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval or National Small Series Type Approval schemes
  • Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) scheme
