The London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be expanded from 25 October 2021 to cover the area within the North (A406) & South (A205) Circular Roads. Both the A406 and A205 are outside of the zone.
The ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year (not Christmas Day). This change will not impact heavy vehicles (Buses & Coaches with a GVW over 5T) as these vehicles are already subject to the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) which mandate a minimum emission standard of Euro VI from 26 October 2020 (chargeable from 1 March 2021).
However the expansion of the ULEZ will impact Mini Buses of a GVW up to and including 5T
The minimum standards for the ULEZ are:
• Euro 4 (NOx) for petrol minibuses (up to and including 5 tonnes)
• Euro VI (NOx and PM) for diesel minibuses (up to and including 5 tonnes)
Vehicles that do not meet these minimum standards must pay a daily charge of £12.50. Operators can pay in advance, on the day of travel or up to midnight three charging days after the vehicle entered the zone to pay the charge.
Vehicles that drive within the ULEZ across two days, (eg. before midnight and after midnight) will be subject to two daily charges. If the daily charge is not paid within the appropriate timeframe a PCN will be issued to the registered keeper of the vehicle of £160 (reduced to £80 if paid within 14 days).
CPT recommend that operators register for Auto Pay, or Fleet Auto Pay to ensure that charges are paid and unnecessary fines are not incurred.
The daily charge can also be paid online or using TfL Pay to Drive app (available for both apple or android)
