Important updates: Hauliers travelling to the EU

Department for Transport provide an update on a number of changes affecting hauliers travelling to the EU.

New haulier COVID testing sites

New COVID-19 testing sites will be open for hauliers next week:

•            Pease Pottage Services, 68 Ifield Road, Crawley RH11 7BQ

•            Essex Arena, A1306, Arterial Road, Grays, Purfleet RM19 1AE

Ashfield Waterbrook site closure

From midnight on Saturday 13 March, Ashford Waterbrook Inland Border Facility will close and all operations will run from the Ashford Sevington facility.

The Sevington facility is around 7 minutes travel time from the Waterbrook site, which will become a contingency site.

Restrictions on entering the Netherlands

From Tuesday 16 March, hauliers returning to the Netherlands from the UK having spent less than 48 hours in the UK no longer require a COVID-19 test.

This measure mirrors the arrangement that we agreed with France on 21 February and has been approved by the Dutch Parliament.

Improved Check an HGV is Ready service

Some improvements have been made to the Check an HGV is Ready to Cross the Border service so it is simpler to use and also shows the issue time and date on the Kent Access Permit.
